Clinoptilolite Zeolite
100% natural microporous aluminosilicate born of volcanic ash transformed by millions of years of extreme heat and pressure.
Unique Structure Clinoptilolite zeolite has a unique honeycomb shaped molecular formula making it beneficial for healthy soil structure. The negative charge of the molecule will attract and hold onto important nutrients, moisture and even oxygen.
Aeration & Sorbtion
The angular structure and high sorption qualities of Clinoptilolite Zeolite allows for a natural drainage, infiltration and airflow while inhibiting mildew, algae and anaerobic bacteria. Using zeolite as a soil structure additive helps create an environment with increased nutrient storage, hydration, aeration and aerobic life.
Nutrients Storage
A unique nutrient release curve allows the zeolite molecule to hold onto some cations with more intensity than other, it’s propensity to lock in heavy metal cations while releasing light cations to the plant roots.
Water Holding Capacity
Whether used alone as a hydroponic substrate or mixed into soil blends Clinoptilolite Zeolite has a superior water holding capacity and air flow porosity which breaks down slowly and naturally over time.
Stabilizing pH Buffer
Because Clinoptilolite Zeolite is microporous and naturally pH balanced it acts as a superior pH buffering agent, helping reduce spikes, deficiencies and errors in nutrient
APPLICATION RATES
Add up to 2 - 5% powder to soil to buffer the pH, increase water capacity plus
improve nutrient retention, porosity, infiltration and aeration. Use the powder
in potting soil for young plants and clippings where the size of the material
is important. Perlite and pumice become less porous when crushed to a fine
powder, as much of the cavities are destroyed, leaving only a glass like dust. Do not over apply zeolite powder as it may compact over time.
Clinoptilolite zeolite is a powerful odor, moisture & gas absorbent. Use powder
around the farm to reduce odors and fight mildew, mold & fungi. Pour zeolite
over the outhouse pit after each use. Add zeolite to composting to improve
structure and reduce odors. Use zeolite around the basement and anywhere
mildew or moisture can be a problem. Sprinkle down on carpet and furniture to
absorb stains, moisture and odor; sweep off or vacuum and repeat as needed.
Zeolite is non-toxic, pet and human safe!
New beds - Mix 10lbs per 100sqft into soil bed, 2-4 inches depth. Apply a thin layer on top of seed bed.
Pots and potting soil - Mix 1-2 pounds zeolite per 10lbs soil or work a mixture of 2-5% zeolite into the top soil for dressing.
Trees and ShrubsFor new plantings use 1 pound directly in the root zone, blend with soil up to 20%, spread and work in thin layer on topsoil for existing plantings.
LawnsIn new beds work 20lbs per 1000sqft into top 3 inches of soil for existing lawns, apply 10lbs per 1000sqft after aerating.
CompostAdd layer as compost pile turns and previous layer is no longer visible, or add as needed to control odor.
